TFN GOOD CITIZEN PLEDGE
The Family Narrative strongly believes that: Black Lives Matter. Words matter. Representation matters. White silence results in murder and violence against the BIPOC community. Love and family are not exclusive to their heteronormative representations. Gender is a social construct and is not binary. Fat is not a bad word.
As artists, we have the power and the responsibility to use our voices and our art in the service of these beliefs. As a member of the TFN community, I commit to: Actively, openly listening to each person’s story. Learning from and embracing differences among identities. Practicing inclusive language. Being open to learning more inclusive and non-threatening ways of speaking and communicating. Fostering an inclusive community that treats every person with dignity and respect and educating others to do the same. Actively pursuing inclusivity, diversity and representation within my work, my portfolio, my website, and my social media. Using my voice to call out instances of racism, discrimination, or white/hetero-centricity in the photography community. I will honor this commitment while participating in the community, in my business and in my personal life. I pledge to do my part to make everyone feel safe, valued, and seen within our global community.
